Melinda Frye

Dr. Melinda Frye, associate dean for veterinary academic and student affairs and Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, works primarily in competency-based veterinary education and curriculum renewal.

Previously, her lab worked to understand how heart disease is associated with obesity and high-fat diets. These days, she’s focused on the construction of CSU’s new veterinary educational facilities and the development of the veterinary health system. She teaches cardiovascular physiology to first-year D.V.M. students and coaches students in the third-year communications practicum.

Frye earned her B.S.N. from Linfield College, and her M.S., D.V.M., and Ph.D. from Colorado State University. She served as an associate D.V.M. in a mixed animal practice in rural Idaho before returning to CSU to complete an internship and residency in large animal internal medicine. Frye is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
