Dr. Eugene Kelly is a Professor and Department Head in the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences. His research focuses on studying the origin and evolution of soils and quantifying the biologically mediated processes of soil formation in many environments around the world. Kelly serves on several regional and national advisory committees for the National Cooperative Soil Survey (NCSS).

Kelly received his B.S. in Forest and Range Management from CSU in 1980. He then studied Soil Science, earning his M.S. from CSU in 1984 and his Ph.D from the University of California, Berkeley in 1989. Kelly is a Fellow of the Soil Science Society of America and a member of both the Ecological Society of America and the American Geophysical Union.
